Lawrence man arrested for Inwood burglary

Allegedly impersonated a police officer to steal money

Nassau County police arrested a Lawrence man for a burglary in Inwood on Feb. 23 at 6:30 p.m.

According to Fourth Squad detectives, Robert White, 48, of John Street, forced his way into a man’s second floor bedroom apartment claiming to be a Nassau County police officer. White said he was there to collect rent money and threatened to arrest the man, 21, if he did not pay him. The man handed White an unspecified amount of money.

Fourth Precinct officers found White and arrested him. He is charged with burglary second degree, two counts of grand larceny fourth-degree and criminal impersonation first-degree. Arraignment was scheduled for Feb. 25 at First District Court in Hempstead.
