About 25,000 people are expected to gather at Firemen’s Field on July 4 at 6:30 p.m. for the Village of Valley Stream’s and the Valley Stream Chamber of Commerce’s 26th annual Fourth of July fireworks show.

Mayor Ed Fare said the fireworks show will be a fun event for the whole family. He called it “a show not to be missed.”

The field can accommodate between 2,500 to 3,000 people, and once the field is filled to capacity the gates will close, according to Village Clerk Bob Fumagalli. Thousands of other spectators will be able to see the fireworks show from the roads surrounding the field, which will be blocked off for the show.

“To get into Firemen’s Field you need tickets, but to sit in the street, you can just bring chairs,” said Vinny Cusumano, the deputy director of public safety.

Guests inside the field, however, can enjoy a bouncy house and music from DJ John Piazza, who has performed at the fireworks show for the past three years. “He really gets the kids dancing,” said Barbara DeGrace, the mayor’s assistant.
