Authorities arrested a Long Beach man in the 2013 attempted robbery of a taxi driver in Baldwin, Nassau police said.

David Kunen, 38, of 10 W. Broadway, was arrested Oct. 15 at 8 a.m. in Atlantic Beach, police said. He is being charged with third-degree robbery, and the following day was ordered held in First District Court, Hempstead, on $2,500 bond or $1,500 cash.

According to First Squad detectives, a 48-year-old taxi driver picked up a fare in Freeport on July 29, 2013, and drove him to Grand Avenue near Brooklyn Avenue in Baldwin. The fare demanded the driver’s money, but the driver refused and continued to drive to the Baldwin train station. While the taxi was moving, the fare, a man, jumped out and fled south on Milburn Avenue.

The would-be thief was described as being in his late 30s or early 40s, 5 feet, 8 inches tall, with dark, slicked-back hair. He was wearing black shorts, a black T-shirt and had tattoos on his arms.
