Martinez and Mulé win Freeport trustee seats

Jorge Martinez and Debra Mulé are the Village of Freeport’s newest trustees, winning the March 18th village election with 2,180 and 2,163 votes, respectively. Each trustee has been elected to serve a four-year term beginning April 1. This is Martinez’s third term as village trustee; Mulé is serving her first term.

Seven candidates ran for the two trustee positions on the Freeport Village board in a hotly contested race. In addition to Martinez and Mulé, candidates were former Mayor Andrew Hardwick, Frank Rizzo, Sunday Coward, Julissa Ramos and Douglas Mayers.

The unofficial tally of votes provided by the Freeport Village Clerk’s office is as follows:
Jorge Martinez – 2,180
Debra Mulé – 2,163

Andrew Hardwick – 1,089
Frank Rizzo – 863
Sunday Coward – 713
Julissa Ramos – 617
Douglas Mayers – 131
