Freeport’s Nautical Mile Festival, held this past Saturday, June 7, drew thousands to Woodcleft Canal for a day of merriment. Visitors had the opportunity to stroll the Nautical Mile, sample Seafood and shop.

There were plenty of kid centered activities including face painting and the rides at Sea Breeze Park. And adults had their own recreational opportunities including boat rides and fishing.

Mayor Robert Kennedy, along with local dignitaries, held a ribbon cutting ceremony at noon to help kick off the festivities.

The Nautical Mile Festival opens the summer season in Freeport. Many more activities are planned including the Hudson Anglers Shark Tournament, June 14; a fireworks display, July 5; the Summer Sunset concerts series sponsored by Long Island Arts Council beginning July 3; Friday night movies at Seabreeze Park beginning July 11 and the Long Island Blues Festival at Cow Meadow Park. Other activities are planned as well.
