Summer has begun at Freeport Rec


Now through June 28, the outdoor swimming pools will be open Saturdays and Sundays from 10 am-5 pm.  Beginning Monday, June 29 and through Sunday, September 6, the Recreation Center outdoor pools will be open Monday through Friday, 6:15 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday/Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The Recreation Center is closed on Saturday, July 4.

The Freeport Recreation Center offers three children’s summer camps. Each option is for two weeks. There are four sessions of camp offered. Children 3- to 5-years-old can enjoy the half-day morning Kiddie Camp.  Kiddie Campers will participate in arts & crafts, sports, music and outdoor/indoor swimming pool time.  Junior Campers, ages 6 to 9, will also spend each day utilizing all the same amenities, but for a full day.  Junior camp will also enjoy the gymnasium and indoor turf field for added sports fun. Children ages 10 to 12 can attend the full day Sports Camp. This group of campers will also spend the days enjoying the wonderful recreation center amenities plus the addition of two off-site day trips during each two-week session of camp. Trips include bowling, Adventureland and more.

Summer is the perfect time to learn or brush-up on your swimming skills. Private and group summer swim lessons are available for adults and children throughout the summer. Adult Aquacise and Deep Water running programs are also offered.  All summer programs, activities and registrations are currently taking place at the Freeport Recreation Center. 


Kiddie Club Class of 2015 Graduates
The Kiddie Club class of 2015 received their end of year diplomas and performed a repertoire of songs for family and friends on June 10.

Kiddie Club is a pre-school half-day program for children ages 3- to 5-years-old located in the Freeport Recreation Center.  This popular recreation center program runs from September through June each year.  Morning and afternoon sessions are offered. In a schoolroom setting, experienced staff encourages socialization, creativity and learning. Children enjoy games, creative drama, story time, movement and arts and crafts. Special programs and events are planned utilizing the Recreation Center gymnasium, indoor swimming pool and ice rink.
