Robbery

The First Squad reports the arrest of a Hempstead man for robbery that occurred on Tuesday, July 7, at 9:21 p.m. in Freeport.
According to detectives, Michael Everett, 55, of Terrace Avenue was observed by store security at Compare Foods located at 111 Merrick Road removing food items and attempting to exit the store without paying for them. A security guard confronted Everett as he exited the store at which time Everett removed a mini meat cleaver from his pants waistband and attempted to strike the guard. A short struggle ensued before Everett was secured by security personnel. There were no injuries reported.
Everett is charged with first-degree robbery.
