Happy Holidays From Mayor Kennedy

Posted

On behalf of the Board of Trustees and myself, please accept our warmest greetings of the season. As we begin our plans for another year of opportunities and progress, let’s first be grateful for the successes and blessings we have had this year. We’ve witnessed substantial progress with our responsible financial position, infrastructure investments, and an improved public image. All of this and more has increased property values and pride in our community. I believe that we have a firm foundation upon which to move forward, and my appreciation for being elected to my second term as your Mayor cannot be overstated.

We have an amazing team of skilled Department Heads and professionals, including the CSEA, Freeport Police Department, and Fire Department, who tirelessly lead our dedicated employees as they conduct the work of our Village every day. I would be remiss not to mention the contributions of our clergy, community and business leaders, as well as the Boards, Commissions and local organizations that benefit this Village and foster goodwill. These are the unsung heroes who create this compassionate and friendly place we love. I’m sure we can all agree that our greatest asset is the enthusiastic people of Freeport. Together we will continue to address every challenge in the year ahead.

So, as we celebrate this holiday season, may I ask you to remember those who are ill or less fortunate, especially the elderly and those who live alone. Reach out to comfort those who will be missing a loved one at the dinner table. Share the joy of welcoming a new baby or family member. Invite a new neighbor over for some holiday cheer. These are the things that are most important.

It is an honor to continue to serve as your Mayor in this diverse Village. I wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and Happy Kwanzaa to everyone who celebrates. I look forward to 2018 with every confidence that it will be another great year for us all.

Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!
