Garage Sale Day highlights a sunny afternoon in Sea Cliff

There seemed to be a buzz from block to block in the peaceful village of Sea Cliff on June 3. The skies were clear, the sun was shining, and there was a calm breeze as residents stopped by several houses in the hope of finding something special to take home with them for the village’s annual Garage Sale Day.

There were all kinds of clothing, toys, furniture, sports equipment, antique items, and so much more available for purchase at each garage stand. Each year, this festive day gives residents the opportunity to clean out their homes of items they no longer need and offer them to buyers who believe the items are treasures. It’s a social event for the village where children join their parents at each of the stands to share some background information about the items they are featuring. And sometimes cookies and lemonade are offered too.

Additionally, Garage Sale Day always presents a chance for residents to enjoy the outdoors. Little League games were played at Clifton Park this year, some residents walked their dogs up and down the streets, and some were seen resting in the shade. Whether they bought or sold anything that day, residents were sure to be a part of it.

Second only to Sea Cliff’s Mini Mart festival, Garage Sale Day has become one of the most celebrated ‘holidays’ in the village.
