“Bye Bye Birdie” plays Island Park

Agent and songwriter Albert Peterson finds himself in trouble when rock n’ roll superstar Conrad Birdie is drafted into the Army. Albert’s secretary and sweetheart, Rosie Alvarez, devise a publicity stunt to have Birdie record and perform a song before he is sent overseas. They plan to have Birdie travel to a small Ohio town and sing Albert’s new song “One Last Kiss” and give one lucky girl from his fan club a kiss on the Ed Sullivan Show before entering the Army.

The play featured several outstanding performances including John Aebly as Albert Peterson, Gina Symes as Rosie Alvarez, Marissa Feminella as Kim Macafee, and Jaylyn Umana as Conrad Birdie

“Bye Bye Birdie” was directed and choreographed by Deidre Cutler, assistant director was Michael Giordano, set design by Chris Jahn and Deidre Cutler, technical-lighting coordinator was Linda Rusnak, costumes were designed by Elizabeth Peckham, Michael Giordano handled sound design and drums, and Stephen Goldstein was the pianist.
