Fans flock to the 20th annual Jolson Festival

Over 120 fans of the greatest entertainer that ever lived came to Oceanside Aug. 27, to hear his songs, watch film clips, share pictures and talk about their passion, Al Jolson.

The International Al Jolson Society gathered for their 20th annual festival.

President Jan Hernstat puts together a great show every year, and this was no exception.

Perennial favorite Tony “Tony B” Babino did his show-stopping concert,

“The Heart of Jolson with David Gross on the piano, plus his impressions of Eddie Cantor, Dean Martin and Bing Crosby.

Brian Gari, Eddie Cantors grandson, sang a song from his grandfather’s unproduced musical that Brian wrote.

Bob Greenberg played bus driver Ralph Kramden, star of “The Honeymooners”.

As always there were film clips of the great Jolson that were shared among the faithful, pictures, little known fact and stories, book discussions and impressions of “The Jazz Singer.”
