Gubelli Foundation has a successful day

Almost 325 runners were registered for the 7th Annual Jimi Gubelli 5k Walk/Run held in Island Park on June 27. With the help of donations and sponsors the Jimi Gubelli Foundation was able to give out $25,ooo in scholarships to local students. In addition to the race there was a pre race party on June 25th and a post race Bar-b-q, with music and raffles.

When Gubelli died at only 47 years old, his friends wanted to do something to remember him. He was popular and well known for being generous, kind and caring. He owned T.A. Clarke’s, which used to be located on Austin Boulevard. While he owned the bar/restaurant, he would help nearly any organization that came in and asked him for it.

Jimi’s willingness to give back to the community was one of the main reasons that his friends wanted to honor his memory and created the Jimi Gubelli Foundation.
