Herald Community Newspapers had a strong showing in the Local Media Association’s 2014 advertising and promotions contest.

The Herald picked up four awards from among hundreds of entries from across North America, including a first-place tie in the category for best single ad featuring two or more colors for its advertisement of the Coral House. The Herald took second place among the best general interest promotional specials for its voter’s guide, and took third place for best single black-and-white ad featuring the Wolfe Animal Hospital, and also received honorable mention for best cover design for its Holiday Magic special.

The Local Media Association Advertising & Promotion Contest awards recognize outstanding contributions to the quality of advertising in local media companies, as well as the promotional and marketing programs implemented by the companies.

The objectives of this contest are to provide acknowledgment for the advertising and promotional achievements of the local media industry, and to stimulate even higher standards of excellence throughout the industry, according to the Local Media Association.

Contributing their talents were the sales teams of Rhonda Glickman and Ellen Reynolds, creative director Jeff Negrin and the art and production team, led by Karen Mengel.

“It takes a great team of dedicated, hardworking professionals in all departments to win the awards we did at LMA,” said Glickman, vice president of sales for Richner Communications, which publishes the Heralds. “I am honored to be part of that team.”

Richner Communications, based in Garden City and overseen by brothers Stuart and Clifford Richner, publishes more than 28 community-based newspaper, shopping guides, websites and niche publications.
