Island Park finally gets information
Alex Costello/Herald
Dr. Rosmarie Bovino gave concerned parents their first update on the schools since the storm hit. Classes resumed on Wednesday.

Classes for all students at the middle school begin at 8:30 a.m. There will be monitors in the halls, and Bovino said that the district is trying to make sure students have the same teachers they had before the storm.

Some residents asked what they could do to help get the school back in order. Bovino said that, at this point, monetary donations would be most helpful so that the district could fund repairs and replace lost materials.

She encouraged parents to send their children back to school. “It’s our job to care for your children and provide for them,” she said. “It’s your job to get your homes back in order when they’re at school.”
