Long Islanders woke up to a more serious second-round of a nor'easter, with wet, heavy snow falling, and wind gusts causing delays and treacherous rush-hour driving conditions in the area. A storm warning is in effect until 6 p.m. Friday.

Residents on the South Shore saw anywhere between 4 to 8 inches of snow — a few inches less that Northern Nassau County. Snow plows were out early, and many residents were clearing their cars off for their morning commute.

Forecasters predict snow changing to rain in the afternoon, with wind gusts reaching 40 miles per hour. Saturday is expected to be clear, with a high of 45 degrees.
