Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano held a press conference Tuesday morning honoring the heroic efforts of a 4th Precinct police officer who saved a Franklin Square man from drowning on Jan. 25

According to police, a 50 year-old man was attempting to fuel his boat at the Bay Park Fishing Station in Oceanside, when he slipped on ice and fell into the water. The officer responded to the call at 2:15 p.m. and was able to locate the man in water and pulled him out. An ambulance brought the man to an area hospital where he was treated for possible hypothermia. Police reported that the man spent approximately 30 minutes in the water.
