Snow still falls second day of blizzard

Travel ban lifted, potential flooding, more snow expected

Snow was still falling on Tuesday, with an already foot to foot-and-a-half of heavy snow on the ground in the area. Temperatures were in the twenties.Snow drifts of up to six feet were reported in some areas.

Travel bans were expected to be lifted later today, earlier for Nassau County, later for Suffolk - but people were urged to stay off the roads.

Very low outages were reported by PSEG, 126, as of 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

"The storm was less destructive than we thought," said Gov. Andrew Cuomo, with slightly less snow in some areas. Long Island was hit with an average of 16 inches of snow.

All Long Island Schools were closed on Tuesday.
