It was a beautiful day for a parade, bright blue sky, gentle breeze, and Island Park turned out in force to honor its veterans, to remember those who gave all, and to celebrate the members of a community who together have endured so much. The dignitaries, community leaders, civic groups, Girl, Boy and Cub Scouts, Little Leagers, students from Lincoln Orens and Francis X. Hegarty, the brave Fire Department smart in their uniforms, Operation Splash, fresh from cleaning up our beaches, our veterans and the DAV, even the bulldozer that knocked down village hall. All were out in splendid form marching through the village, symbols of the pride of Island Park.
