Woman pleads not guilty to drunk driving death of Island Park man

Natalia Simons, 36, of Kings Park, pleaded not guilty to the drunk driving death of Larry Garrwood, 59, of Island Park, during an arraignment in Suffolk County Court on May 21.

On March 13, Simon was driving a a Nissan Rogue northbound on Route 25A in Smithtown when she crossed over the southbound lane, colliding head-on into Garwood's Toyota Camry.

Garwood was transported to St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center and pronounced dead. He was employed at the hospital as a radiology supervisor.  

Simons was charged with aggravated vehicular homicide, vehicular manslaughter in the first and second degrees, assault in the second degree, aggravated driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, speeding and failure to maintain lane. She is free on $50,000 bail.
