Billy Joel cover band Captain Jack was in an Island Park state of mind during summer concert

Posted

“All About Soul” and “Miami 2017 (Seen the Lights Go Out on Broadway)” were just two of the classic Billy Joel hits that Captain Jack played when the band rocked the stage in Island Park under the summer sunset on Aug. 9.

Captain Jack is one of Long Island’s top Billy Joel tribute bands, which plays timeless hits and rarities made famous by The Pianoman, who hails from Hicksville. The quartet hit the stage at Masone Beach as part of the Village of Island Park’s Summer Concert Series. Though the sun-soaked early evening gave way to a rainstorm that shortened the concert, attendees had a chance to sing and dance in the sand along to some of Joel’s favorites.

Captain Jack comprises singer and organ player Christian Macchio, saxophonist Adam Seely, bassist and backup vocalist Will Shelley, guitarist Sal LoCassio and drummer Sal DiMarco.

Before the concert began, Island Park Mayor Michael McGinty welcomed attendees and thanked the staff at Masone Beach for their hard work.
