Island Park resident's St. Jude fundraiser is a smashing success

Posted

Hundreds of residents came to the Bridgeview Yacht Club on Oct. 20 for the ninth annual fundraiser benefitting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Island Park resident Tina Rossetti hosted the fundraiser, and the money raised came from the raffling of gift cards, gift certificates and merchandise that was donated by local businesses, as well as professional sponsors of the event.

“Thank you to all the merchants that made our St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital fundraiser a success nine years in a row,” Rossetti said. “Every year we try our best to work a little harder to raise more money than the previous year.”

The funds from the event will go toward improving research and treatments for childhood cancer, with the ultimate goal being to find a cure. Throughout the night, attendees entered raffles, enjoyed a meal at the yacht club and danced along to the music.

This year’s event had 113 businesses donate to the cause. Notable sponsors this year included Island Park Mayor Michael McGinty, on behalf of JDR Insurance; Kenneth Apple and Scott Cohen, both attorneys from Long Beach; Anthony Valerio, of Building Consultant, Inc. & Elevation Certificates, based in Jamaica Queens; John Manzolillo, a photographer from Franklin Square; Vincent Grecco, of Bellmore; Bruce Silver and Mike Ricci of Cross Country Mortgage; and Joseph Marino, Rossetti’s father, from J&A Laundromat in Long Beach.
