Island Park schools budget passed, board member re-elected

As of earlier tonight, Island Park schools’ budget for the 2018-19 school year has officially passed and a current trustee on the board of education has been re-elected.

The residents of Island Park came out today to vote on the proposed roughly $40 million budget, which is a 1.46 percent or about $575,000 increase from last year. District Clerk Marianne DeCicco said 237 people voted "Yes," while 146 were voted "No" — around 62 percent in favor.

Additionally, Diana Caracciolo, the board's current vice president, was elected for another five-year term.
