Man arrested on criminal impersonation charges in Oceanside

Police arrested a Baldwin man and charged him with criminal impersonation that occurred on May 11 at 10:50 a.m. in Oceanside.

While detectives conducted an unrelated investigation at 7-Eleven on Merrick Road, Frank Zenon, 55, approached them and identified himself as a detective with the NYPD. After a brief conversation, detectives became suspicious of the man. A subsequent investigation showed that Zenon had an open warrant in New Jersey. Detectives responded to the defendant’s home and placed him under arrest without incident. They also recovered two NYPD detective shields in their search.

Zenon faces two counts of second-degree criminal impersonation and having an open warrant from out of state.
