The deadline for entering films into this year’s Long Beach International Film Festival is Wednesday, July 1. The festival is currently accepting online submissions through Film Freeway and Without A Box. Links to the submission sites can be found at www.longbeachfilm.com

The LBIFF will celebrate its 4th anniversary this year with a packed lineup of independent and studio films from around the globe. The festival is scheduled to take place Sept. 24 through 27 in Long Beach and nearby Rockville Centre, and will screen an international slate of more than 50 films — feature-length narrative, documentary, short, animated and student films — that will compete for a series of jury, festival honors and audience awards.

The festival kicks off on Aug. 7 with “Shorts on the Beach,” a free movie night that will feature a new element this year — “Taste on the Beach.” Area restaurants, wineries and craft breweries will come together to provide a sampling of new or favorite dishes with Steve Carl of Carlyle on the Green hosting the event.

“What’s better than bringing films, food, drinks and music together on the beach?” asked LBIFF cofounder Ingrid Dodd in a statement.

Pre-sale tickets for the “Taste on the Beach” portion of the event are on sale now for $75. Regular admission to the tasting is set at $100 per ticket. The screening is free.

Culinary celebrities such as Danny Gagnon — a former Top Chef contestant — and Liza Huber, CEO & Founder of Sage Spoonfuls, will make appearances at “Taste on the Beach” as well. Huber is an award-winning author, public speaker, entrepreneur and television personality who was honored last month with the Little Flower Children and Family Service’s 2015 Humanitarian Award. She will be conducting a segment in which she will create a dish using food from the local farmers market in Long Beach.

“Taste on the Beach” will get underway at 5 p.m. and last until 8 p.m., when the festivities will move into Beach Theatre — a custom-made movie theatre on the beach — to enjoy the “Shorts On The Beach” film series.

Live musical performances from acts including international recording artist Connell Cruise and local reggae band Oogee Wawa will perform throughout the evening.
