The Long Beach community pulled together on Thursday to host a Thanksgiving feast for residents affected by Hurricane Sandy.

Hundreds of people turned out to the city’s Ice Arena on West Bay Drive where Swingbelly’s BBQ and others prepared more than 200 turkeys and served Thanksgiving meals in large tents.

Swingbelly’s, the popular West End barbecue restaurant, teamed up with the Long Beach Surfer’s Association, Skudin Surf and the non-profit organization Surf for All, among others, to launch an “emergency relief” effort to provide Thanksgiving dinners for at least 100 Long Beach families.
