Ingoglia for mayor; Annarella, Hassett for trustees

Columbia Ciccimarro, the secretary of the Voice Party, would make a great candidate in another election. Likable, organized, dedicated and driven, she is passionate about turning Masone Beach, and consequently Island Park, into a tourist destination. But with the village in such desperate need of repair, vision must be tempered by practicality, and Ciccimarro is a newcomer to politics. We’d be disappointed if we didn’t see her in a future election, because she has talent and passion that Island Park needs.

Matt Paccione, the Unity Party’s second trustee candidate, is ambitious — so ambitious that he intends to remain president of the Island Park Board of Education even if he is elected a trustee. Although he claims it would not be a conflict of interest to sit on both boards, we disagree. In any case, we think Annarella and Hassett are more qualified in this at-large election.
