L.B. Craft and Variety hosted its annual carnival this past Memorial Day Weekend, drawing a crowd of 200 to partake in activities outside of the store.

Cassandra Bolivar, owner of the Park Avenue general store, said she held the event, on Saturday, May 24, as a “gift to the community,” to thank patrons for shopping at her store. Face painter Derrick Little transformed kids into animals and skeletons, Wendy “The Pipecleaner Lady,” did crafts, and The Puppeteer’s Cooperative provided life-size puppets for kids to play with. And kids could play with drums, to go with the theme, “drum in the summer.”

“The joy of the children was amazing; everyone had a great time,” Bolivar said. “It was nice to see Long Beach alive; it brought me joy.”
