Police say cocaine sale occurred on Roosevelt Boulevard

Nassau County police arrested a Long Beach man and a West Hempstead woman on drug charges last Saturday following an alleged cocaine sale on Roosevelt Boulevard.

According to police, detectives observed David Ortiz, 27, at 10:55 p.m. on June 6 parked while in his 2009 Mercury. Police said Ortiz sold an undetermined amount of the drug to 44-year-old Alaina M. Hannides, who was in the passenger seat.

Police said detectives approached the vehicle and recovered a bag of cocaine from Ortiz’s shorts and found another bag in a door panel on the passenger side of the vehicle.

Hannides was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and issued an appearance ticket to appear in First District Court on June 24.

Ortiz was charged with three counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and three counts of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance. He was arraigned on June 7 at First District Court in Hempstead.
