Classical Moves
American Ballet Theatre’s corps members will delight their audience with a formidable display of grace and technique when they visit Long Island with “Classical Moves,” a showcase of excerpts from classic ballets and contemporary pieces. Acclaimed ABT dancers and friends take everyone on a journey through the evolution of contemporary ballet, accompanied by orchestra and piano. The celebrated ensemble includes Anna Liceica, Luciana Paris, Nicole Graniero, Sterling Baca, Daniel Mantei Keene, and Stephanie Williams, with choreography by Gemma Bond and Mikhail Ilyin. The program features excerpts of classical dance through the ages, from the 19th to 21st century, with choreography that incorporates elements of both classical ballet and modern dance. Pieces will range from the classic “Les Sylphides” with music by Chopin, to “Carmen” and Giuseppe Verdi’s “La forza del destino,” as well as new compositions.
Sunday, Oct. 12, 4 p.m. $35-$45. Madison Theatre, Molloy College, 1000 Hempstead Ave., Rockville Centre. (516) 323-4444 or www.madisontheatreny.org.
