Long Beach, Town of Hempstead, Legis. Ford and LBFD to hold 9/11 memorials

The Town of Hempstead and the City of Long Beach will be commemorating the 13th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorists attacks with memorial ceremonies and rememberances. They include:

The Town of Hempstead will hold its memorial at Town Park in Point Lookout at 7:30 a.m., Long Island’s largest 9/11 memorial service.

The City of Long Beach will hold a remembrance gathering at 8 a.m. at the Recreation Center parking lot. City officials, local clergy and Long Beach veterans will gather to take a moment to remember the lives lost on 9/11.

The Long Beach Fire Department will hold its annual memorial on West Park Avenue at Lafayette Boulevard at 7:30 p.m. The Fire Department will hold a ceremony to pay tribute to the victims and honor first responders, firefighters, police, rescue and military service men and women.

On Thursday, Sept. 11, Nassau County Legislator Denise Ford will hold a commemoration at the 9/11 Memorial on Virginia Avenue and W. Beech St. at 11 a.m., in Long Beach. All are welcome to join veterans’ groups and city officials to honor the victims of 9/11.
