Valley Stream American Legion hosts annual ANCHOR party

Posted

The Valley Stream American Legion Post No. 854 hosted its annual party for the ANCHOR program on Nov. 22.

ANCHOR, stands for answering the needs of citizens with handicaps through organized recreation, is a year-round recreation program dedicated to children and adults with special needs who reside in the Town of Hempstead.

The program provides programs after school and on Saturdays in various locations throughout the township.

“The last 10 years at least it’s been a privilege for Troop 116 to attend,” said Scoutmaster Patrick Burke.

Members from Boy Scouts Troop 116 and Cub Scouts Pack 367 served dinner and dessert, cleaned the hall after the event and took out the garbage for attendees.
