The Long Beach Recreation Department, in cooperation with the Long Beach Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1384, held its fifth annual Jingle Bell 5K Toys for Tots Run Dec. 1.
“It was a festive atmosphere with many participants wearing lights and costumes,” said Assistant Recreation Superintendent Paul Ferrante. “Everyone brought down a toy for Toys for Tots and filled up all of the boxes. Sgt. Tyree Stevens was on hand to thank everyone on behalf of the United States Marine Corps for all of their generous donations.”
With more than 150 runners competing, Brian O’Gorman, of Lynbrook, was the male overall winner with a time of 16 minutes, 55 seconds, and Liliana Depaulo, of Long Beach, was the female overall winner with a time of 22:49.
“The Recreation Department would like to thank our sponsors for this race Chipotle, Joe Farrell Foundation and All Round Foods,” Ferrante said.
The Rec’s next race is the Long Beach 4-mile Snowflake Race on Sat., Feb. 2. Visit www.longbeachny.gov for more information.
