Long Beach man arrested after police find altered semi-automatic rifle

A Long Beach man was arrested on Thursday and charged with criminal possession of a weapon after police said they found an altered semi-automatic rifle with fully loaded magazines in his home.

Nassau County police said that they responded to an incident involving Justin Taylor, 25, of West Hudson Street, on Thursday at 3 p.m. at the Jones Beach U.S. Coast Guard Station.

“A subsequent investigation was conducted, and officers responded to his residence where they recovered an altered semi-automatic rifle along with fully loaded magazines,” police said in a news release. “The defendant, Justin Taylor, was placed under arrest without incident.”

Taylor was charged with three counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and was scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Friday.

Police did not provide further details about the incident at the Coast Guard Station.
