Bomb scare in Bay Park

Reports of threat on UPS truck on East Boulevard

At approximately 11:30 a.m., residents on East Boulevard in Bay Park, East Rockaway were told by police to stay inside their homes because of a possible bomb on a UPS truck in the area.

Police confirmed the threat, saying that is was eventually deemed safe, and no bomb was found.

Residents were allowed to leave their homes during the bomb squads inspection, using a route through the park, said one resident. Most of East Boulevard was was blocked off until an "all clear” was called at 2:30 p.m.

Chris Ferraro, who said he was the driver of that truck, said that he was notified by his dispatcher, who said that they got a call there was a bomb on his truck.

"It was pretty scary," he said. "It sucked." Ferraro added that he was ordered to stop and abandon the truck until police called said it was safe.

"I just want to finish my route now," he added.
