Man arrested for criminal possession
Nassau County Police Department Fourth Squad detectives reported the arrest of a Brooklyn man for criminal possession of a weapon that occurred in Lynbrook on Set. 29 at 4:35 p.m.
According to detectives, Lynbrook Police Officers, while on routine patrol, observed a 2012 Chevrolet perform an improper U-turn and then fail to signal a lane change on eastbound Sunrise Highway. The officer stopped the vehicle at the intersection of Sunrise Highway and Vincent Avenue and approached the car.
The front seat passenger, Jean Joseph, 23, had a loaded handgun secreted in his waistband and fled from the vehicle. A foot pursuit ensued and police officers apprehended the defendant in a rear yard on Elm Street. The handgun was recovered and no injuries were reported.
Joseph is being charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and was arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Sept. 30. The operator of the vehicle was issued two uniform traffic summonses and released.


Man charged with robbery, menacing

The Robbery Squad reports the arrest of Anthony A. Leazer Jr., 29, of Hempstead for a robbery that occurred in Lynbrook on May 3 at 2:05 p.m.
According to detectives, a 23-year-old female victim was at the Holiday Inn Express, located at 1 Sunrise Highway in Lynbrook, when an unknown black male subject described to be about five feet seven inches tall, with a thin mustache, wearing a black leather jacket, blue jeans and white sneakers knocked at her door. When the victim opened the door the subject displayed a black colored semi-automatic handgun and pushed his way into the room. The subject demanded cash and forced the victim to the floor. After obtaining an unknown amount of currency the subject fled from the room in an unknown direction. There were no injuries reported.
