About four dozen Kiwanians, their families and friends, along with local and state officials, attended an end-of-summer barbecue fundraiser at the East Rockaway VFW last Thursday.
“It was a terrific evening,” said Charles Hirschberg, president of the East Rockaway Kiwanis Club. “It was great to see a lot of community support.”
The group networked, held raffles, and enjoy a fine spread of grilled hamburgers, hot dogs, salads and beans.
“It was very successful,” said Debbie Hirschberg, Kiwanis treasurer and president of the East Rockaway Chamber of Commerce. “We hope to have more local fundraisers in the coming year.”
Monies raised will go toward helping with The Builders Club, a division of the Kiwanis Club for younger students.
