Spring Dance Adelphi
Adelphi University dance students offer their interpretation of Paul Taylor’s acclaimed work, “Company B,” at their annual spring showcase, which concludes this weekend. This dynamic piece incorporates the music of The Andrews Sisters with Taylor’s signature modern choreography in a dance that juxtaposes American exuberance in the early1940s with the tragedy of men who never returned from battle. It recalls the turbulent decade through the bouncy hit songs that depict a nation surging with high spirits, while millions of men were bidding farewell to wives or girlfriends and many would never come home. The dance focuses on those poignant dualities. Original choreography by Adelphi faculty is also featured.
Thursday and Friday, April 30-May 1, 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, May 2, 2 and 7:30 p.m. Sunday, May, 3, 2 p.m.$20. Adelphi University Performing Arts Center, 1 South Ave., Garden City. (516) 877-4000 or boxoffice@adelphi.edu.

Spandau Ballet
The influential band of the New Romantic era is back in the area, a stop on its first North American tour in nearly 30 years. All five original members — Tony Hadley, John Keeble, Gary Kemp, Martin Kemp and Steve Norman —once again captivate fans in this long-awaited tour, which coincides with the recent release of a documentary, “Soul Boys of the West Western World,” chronicling the band’s rise to fame and the 1980s cultural landscape. From their synth pop and dance pioneering early singles “To Cut A Long Story Short” and “Chant No. 1” (I Don’t Need This Pressure On), to the globe trotting smashes “True” and “Gold,” Spandau will be enthusiastically playing all the hits once again.
Sunday, May 3, 8 p.m. $69.50 and $49.50. NYCB Theatre at Westbury, 960 Brush Hollow Rd., Westbury (800) 745-3000 or www.ticketmaster.com.
