Local schools, organizations cancel activities in preparation of Nemo

The Lynbrook School District has canceled all after-school activities on Friday, Feb. 8, and all activities scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 9, according to the district’s website, in preparation of winter storm Nemo.

The Lynbrook Recreation Department closed at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 8, and all activities scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 9, have been cancelled.

East Rockaway's Recreation Department has canceled its bowling program for Feb. 8 and rescheduled the event for March 29.

The National Weather Service warns that heavy snow will be blowing into the Nassau County area later Friday afternoon and could leave us on Saturday morning with anywhere from 10 to 20 inches of snow depending on the temperatures and the convergence of two now separate storms.

Town of Hempstead Supervisor Kate Murray has declared a snow emergency.
