Police: Lynbrook man drove drunk with daughter in the back seat

A Lynbrook man was arrested for driving while intoxicated in Valley Stream early Saturday morning, Nassau County police said.

According to police, officers were on Shine Place for a disturbance call when Jose A. Forero, 62, of Lynbrook, arrived at the location operating a Jeep Wrangler with one headlight out, and his 6-year-old daughter in the back seat.

While speaking with Forero, police said they determined he was intoxicated and asked him to exit the vehicle. Police said Forero then became agitated and approached the officers in an aggressive manner yelling and flailing his arms. He continued to refuse to comply with the officers’ commands and was placed under arrest.

Police said he was placed in the rear of a patrol car and then began to bang his head, and kick the windows and computer in the vehicle. The officers became concerned for the defendant’s safety and requested an ambulance. Forero was transported to an area hospital for medical evaluation. The child was released to a family member.

Forero as charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated with child under the age of 15 (Leandra Law), endangering the welfare of a child, driving while intoxicated, 2nd degree obstructing governmental administration, and multiple vehicle and traffic law violations. His arraignment was scheduled for Oct. 8 at First District Court in Hempstead.
