The votes have been tabulated and the results are in — and now it is time to honor the reciepients of the Basketball Coaches Association of New York (BCANY) and the Nassau County Basketball Coaches Association (NCBCA) post season basketball awards for the 2012-13 season.

East Rockaway Senior David McClure, a four- year starter on the schools varsity basketball team, earned All-County and Player of the Year in the Conference from the NCBCA. Additionally, he earned All-Section from the BCANY, and is being considered as a Top-50 player in New York State. He is considering Mount St. Mary’s College and Oneonta State University at the next level.

Daniel Fusco, a freshman starter on the East Rockaway High School Varsity Basketball Team, earned recognition as an All-Section performer by the BCANY — the only freshman in Nassau County to be so honored.

Kevin Blessington’s play this year earned him a spot on the BCANY All-Section team. The 6’-5” junior led the team in blocked shots and placed second in rebounding at 6.7 boards a game.

Coach Joe Lores was recognized by the BCANY membership in Section VIII as the Classification “B” Section “Coach of the Year.” Coaches cited the extraodinary circumstances that confronted Lores as he guided the Rocks to Post Season Play despite never playing a home game due to the loss of their gym during Hurricane Sandy. He earned his 200th varsity coaching win during the 20012-13 season.
