The show must — and will — go on for Island Park Theatre Group!

The show, now pared down a bit from the original, still features lively tunes and dance numbers. A portion of the proceeds will go to Lincoln Orens, and in addition, the PTA is going to be serving coffee and cake at intermission, and those proceeds will go directly back to the middle schools. M’s Family Restaurant is offering a special meal to ticket holders before the Friday and Saturday night performances, and after the Sunday matinee. That money will also be donated back to the Island Park Schools.
“With all that has happened I am amazed we managed to pull the show together,” said Rubin-Perry. “Island Park Theatre Group means so much to so many in the community — we’re like a family, and like a family we gathered together, held each other up and helped each other along. The Island Park schools have given so much to IPTG and this is our chance to give some back. Island Park is our home, we take care of our own.”
Hurricane Sandy and her aftermath reminded Upbin of the show’s finale, “Stand by Me,” and its now-more-than-ever meaningful lyrics:

If the sky that we look upon
should tumble and fall
Or the mountain should crumble to the sea
I won’t cry, I won’t cry, no,
I won’t shed a tear
Just as long as you stand, stand by me
