The Lynbrook Fire and Police departments responded to an auto accident on Merrick Road at Blake Avenue last Saturday at approximately 5:40 p.m.

According to fire department spokesman Steve Grogan, a man driving a 1986 Rolls-Royce limousine ran into the back of a Jeep at the intersection there, causing extensive damage to the classic vehicle. That is used for weddings and other special events.  The driver of the Rolls was injured, crushing and breaking the steering wheel upon impact.

Under the command of Chief Edward Hynes, the driver was first assisted by arriving Lynbrook police officers who adminstered oxygen, and then by members of the Extrication Team until the department’s Emergency Medical Company arrived with their two ambulances.

Firefighters then removed both drivers on stretchers and transported them in both Lynbrook Fire Department ambulances to South Nassau Communities Hospital.
