Community Fest

This year’s Community Fest will be held on Sept. 23 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Rockaway Avenue. The day will feature a food court, petting zoo, sports area and vendors from local stores. There will also be performances by Layla’s Drum and Dance and the Children’s Theater Group. Admission is free and it is open to the public.

Clean energy lecture in Elmont

New York State Solar will be holding a free seminar on Sept. 23 at 11 a.m. at the Elmont Memorial Library. At the lecture, guests will learn about the cost-saving and environmental benefits to switching to a solar-energy system. For more information, call (516) 354-528- ext. 1002.

Tax exemption workshop in Elmont

The Elmont Memorial Library will be holding a tax exemption workshop for residents to learn how to file for exemptions on Sept. 27 at 1 p.m. On-site Current Enhanced STAR applications will also be processed. Those radio days

Step back into time the era when everyone gathered around the radio for entertainment, when “Stagecoach” is performed on t he Landmark on Main Street stage, Sunday, Sept. 24, at 3 p.m. The original radio theater-inspired performance is based on the classic John Ford-directed film featuring John Wayen. Gather by the seaside

The delightful autumn sunshine and refreshing ocean breezes combine for a perfect setting for the Town of Hempstead’s annual Family Festival by the Sea at Lido Beach Town Park, Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 23-24, 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. The weekend features musical entertainment, clam eating contests, a petty zoo, circus entertainers, activities for the kids, a tennis clinic, and, of course, plenty of tasty treats.
