Buses on Far Rockaway branch this Sunday morning

Delays expected as switch repair work is performed

Buses to replace trains on the Far Rockaway Branch between Far Rockaway and Valley Stream overnight Sunday, Nov. 9 from 12:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. for track maintenance

Customers are advised to allow extra time for travel in both directions.

Buses will replace train service between Far Rockaway and Valley Stream for 10 hours on Sunday, Nov. 9 from 12:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. to allow the Long Island Rail Road to carry out an important switch repair work. As a result, traveling in both directions will take longer and customers are advised to plan ahead by consulting the special Far Rockaway Branch Switch Repair Track Work Schedule for Nov. 9.

Westbound

Customers at stations Far Rockaway, Inwood, Lawrence, Cedarhurst, Woodmere, Hewlett and Gibson will board buses up to 47 minutes later than normal train time, then transfer at Valley Stream where train service resumes to points west arriving at their destinations up to 63 minutes later than usual.

Eastbound

Customers will transfer from their train to buses at Valley Stream to travel to stations Gibson through Far Rockaway, arriving at their final destinations up to 34 minutes later than usual.
