Lynbrook’s Greis Park is another popular spot, with a playground, roller hockey rink, basketball courts and athletic fields. Its appeal is drawing attention, as it has been voted a third place winner in the Coca Cola Company’s “America’s Favorite Park’s Contest, according to the unofficial results. In Hewlett, Grant Park’s recently renovated 35 acres are chock full of sports, starting with its outdoor skating/roller rink. Horseshoes, shuffleboard, basketball, tennis, soccer, and softball are some of the other popular activities. The large playground is a terrific diversion for the kids, with picnic areas and barbecue grills nearby. And the nearby lake provides scenic views, enjoyed by families as well as anglers seeking bass or other freshwater fish.

North Woodmere Park’s 150 acres are surrounded by water and feature a range of seasonal activities, including basketball, handball, tennis, softball, baseball, a playground, game tables, and outdoor pools. The park also attracts many for crabbing and saltwater fishing along Middle Bay. For golf enthusiasts, the nine-hole par 31 course is great place to hone your skills.

Nearby, in Cedarhurst, Andrew J. Parise Cedarhurst Park is a vibrant spot in which to play baseball, or relax with the kids at the playground and spray park, or simply relax by the gazebo. That gazebo, by the way, is the site of the village’s beloved summer concert series.

Inwood Park, also in the Five Towns, draws visitors to its 16 acres for saltwater fishing and crabbing. It offers a lighted baseball field, basketball and tennis courts, along with a new playground, roller rink and picnic area.

Hempstead Lake State Park, in Rockville Centre, is another vibrant green space. With 20 tennis courts, playgrounds, bridle trails for horse back riding, biking and hiking trails, and shaded picnic areas, along with freshwater fishing at Hempstead Lake and McDonald and South Ponds, it’s a vital community asset.
