On Stage

Tom Papa
The “nice guy” comedian is ready to share some laughs with his sharply observational, quick-witted standup so welcome on a cold winter’s evening. A regular on late-night TV, Papa has found success in film and radio as well as on the live stage. He also hosts the hit podcast and SiriusXM show, “Come to Papa,” a weekly, hour-long show that explores the funny side of life, occasionally featuring his good friends and fellow comic Jerry Seinfeld. He’ll give a hilarious fresh take on some of his favorite themes, including family life, the difficulties of being a person, and the challenges of life in our country today.
Friday, Jan. 13, 8 p.m. $35. Landmark on Main Street, Jeanne Rimsky Theater, 232 Main St., Port Washington. (516) 767-6444 or www.landmarkonmainstreet.org.

Family Fun

Gold Coast Life
Step back in time during a winter adventure at Nassau County Museum of Art, when can families can explore what life was like in the grand estate that now houses the museum. Journey back to the day, long before computers and TV, when the grand mansion was home to the Frick family and their four children, who read stories, made art and performed plays for entertainment, during “Merrymaking in a Gold Coast Mansion.” Create a fancy hat and have a picture taken, just like the many portraits on view in the “100 Years of Photos” exhibition. Then embark on a scavenger hunt throughout the museum. Visitors can also design a picture frame with gems to showcase a favorite photo at home.
Sunday, Jan. 15, 1-4 p.m. Entrance fee is museum admission plus $10 per family materials fee. Reservations are not needed. Nassau County Museum of Art, 1 Museum Dr., Roslyn Harbor. (516) 484-9337 or www.nassaumuseum.org.

The Bockety World of Henry and Bucket
The Barnstorm Theatre travels from Kilkenny, Ireland, to Long Island Children’s Museum with their humorous, endearing tale of friendship. Henry and Bucket are pals who live together in a rusty, dusty, battered, and ‘bockety’ world of discarded objects. Even though they are the best of friends, they sometimes argue, get on each other’s nerves, and forget to respect each other’s personal space. When they work together, however, their imaginative adventures can take them anywhere. The Bockety World of Henry and Bucket explores what friendship is, what happens if it goes wrong, and how you fix it.
Sunday, Jan. 15, 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. $9 with museum admission ($7 members), $12 theater only. Long Island Children’s Museum, Museum Row, Garden City. (516) 224-5800 or www.licm.org.
