Letters to the Editor: East Rockaway, Lynbrook
(Page 2 of 2)
On June 21, Fly with the Owls Inc. was pleased to have the opportunity to sponsor the 7th annual post-prom breakfast for graduating Lynbrook High School students.

The event, which took place at the Lynbrook Village Pool from 3:45 to 5:15 a.m., offers the students a safe and fun environment in which to celebrate their graduation. They were served breakfast, and had the chance to win raffle prizes including televisions, laptops and American Express gift cards, and enjoyed the use of the pool facilities. Complimentary car service home from the event was provided by Village Car Service.

On behalf of Fly with the Owls, I’d like to thank all who helped make the post-prom breakfast possible, including Mayor Bill Hendrick and the Lynbrook Village Board of Trustees; Recreation Director Pat McDermott and his staff; the Lynbrook School District and its board; David O’Neill and Village Car Service; Michael Clancy and Lynbrook Bagels; and the parent volunteers who chaperoned the event. We are also grateful to the sponsors of the Fly with the Owls Run/Walk, whose generosity provides the financial support for this and many other youth activities and programs sponsored by our organization.

We look forward to welcoming the Lynbrook High School Class of 2014 to the eigth annual Post Prom Breakfast next June.

Cathy Papandrew, Founder & director, Fly with the Owls Inc.

Very well said Eleanor. So refreshing to hear a voice of reason.

Roe V Wade is the law of the land. Texas is trying to circumvent already decided law. If you feel the law is wrong, work to change it (A constitutional amendment would be required to override the Supreme Court). I'm not sure shutting clinics, preventing health care to poor women which includes counseling, birth control, pap smears and other cancer screening and education is the way to resolve unwanted pregnancies. It has been proven over and over again that 1) abstinence doesn't work with teenagers and 2) education does work.

Instead of calling yourself 'pro-life' you should be honest and admit you are just 'pro-birth'. As soon as the child is born you are fine with eliminating nutrition programs, early education programs, food stamps and a livable minimum wage.

Great set of democrat talking points. Nobody is talking about closing clinics, preventing heath care to poor women, nobody. And please tell exactly where republicans want to, as you state, ELIMINATE nutrition programs, early education and food stamps. These are all the same tired deceitful democrat talking points that cannot be backed up. What is your definition of a livable minimum wage? Before you say $15 an hour like the food service people want, which is ridiculous, let me rmind you that the Messaiah, sorry, Obama, says it should be $9. Which I agree with.
