Malverne resident and volunteer Brian Lewis Jr. was honored last week by the Woodmen Life Chapter 467 for his community service and leadership in Malverne for more than 20 years. The Woodmen Life organization is a not-for-profit fraternal benefit society that has a 40-year history of charitable, patriotic and civic activities on Long Island.

Lewis was given the organization’s Community Leader Award for his work as deputy village inspector in the Malverne Police Reserve, in which he has served for 20 years, secretary of the Nassau County Land Trust and his extensive volunteer work in supporting and maintaining Crossroads Farm at Grossmann’s. He has also collected more than 1000 pounds of food for Our Lady of Lourdes Church’s food drive in Malverne; and has taken part in the Malverne Civic Association and Malverne Merchants and Professional Association.

During the event, Lewis also received citations from State Assemblyman Brian Curran, the Village of Malverne, and a certificate of recognition from the Town of Hempstead.
