Posted

Malverne Mayor Keith Corbett was one of several elected officials who took part in the 11th annual Beach Ball and the 51tst Anniversary of Camp ANCHOR on July 12, at the Bridgeview Yacht Club in Island Park.
The Town of Hempstead’s Camp ANCHOR offers a six-week summer recreation program for all participants. The program is Monday through Friday and provides transportation. Some activities provided are sports, arts & crafts, home economics, drama, ocean, pool, clubs, dance, music and more. Participants are grouped based on age, needs and abilities. Camp Anchor currently has 32 different summer groups. In addition, groups each have the opportunity to go on two field trips each summer. There are special events every Friday that include a generous barbecue given to Camp ANCHOR by the PBA, shows, and more. Families and friends of people that take part in the camp are invited to come and see their child perform in the annual camp shows.
Anchor Program Fund is a nonprofit organization that accepts donations to fund special activities and events, as well as the necessary supplies and equipment, for individuals with disabilities who take part in programs such as ANCHOR.
