John F. Kennedy junior Danny Hartman and MacArthur junior Mike McKee have organized a charity lacrosse tournament that will take place on Sunday, Feb. 5 from 9 a.m. to noon at Turf Island Indoor Sports, located on Maple Court in Oceanside.

The event will benefit Long Island Cares Inc., an organization that provides emergency food to families in need.

Hartman, 16, from Merrick, and McKee, 16, from Wantagh, each play lacrosse for their respective schools. Rivals on the field, the two decided to team up and create the event, which they estimate could attract over 200 participants.

To promote the event, Hartman and McKee spoke to lacrosse coaches and players from several Nassau County Schools, many of which agreed to participate.

During the event, there will be several 20-25 minute lacrosse games, and food will be served. The requested donation for the event is $20 worth of non-perishable food or canned goods.
